A Finish Sauna Experience.
A sauna is a small room or hut heated to approximately
176 degree Fahrenheit. It may be constructed
with a home or as a free standing outside
structure. It provides mental and physical
relaxation as well as a place for cleansing the body.
The Finish
people have used saunas for cleansing and relaxation for
centuries.
If you are not accustomed to a hot sauna it may seem like a
cruel punishment the first time you use it but it is actually a
very pleasant experience once you become accustomed to using
it. You should allow at least one half hour for the experience.
Start by taking a shower then enter the sauna for a few
minutes. After a few minutes in the sauna take another
refreshing shower, cool off for a few minutes and then repeat
the experience. Repeat this cycle until you feel refreshed.
This experience is entirely safe as long as you listen to your
body, spending time between the sauna and the cooling off
period.
How to use a Finish Sauna.
The question often rises as to the proper way to use a
sauna. While there isn’t any one method to
using the sauna most agree that it is more fun when several
share the sauna at the same time. In most
countries saunas are taken naked but you can wear a towel or
bathing suit if it makes you feel more comfortable in a
group. The health benefits are the
same. In many countries families and friends
share the pleasure of a sauna.
While there isn’t any one way to use a
sauna you can try the following guide the first time you use
one until you determine how you prefer to use the sauna.
 |
A shower is recommended prior to entering the sauna
as it will help keep the hot room clean and your
skin pores will be open as you enter the
sauna. |
 |
Use a small towel to sit on the bench in the sauna.
Start with the upper bench when you first use the
sauna. |
 |
As you sit in the sauna the heat and steam will
open the pores of your skin and allow toxins to
leave your body as you sweat. |
 |
After a few minutes move back into the changing
room to cool down. You may wish to take another
shower at this time. |
 |
Repeat this cycle of sauna usage and cool down
periods for several cycles until you feel
relaxed. |
 |
Once you are fully relaxed take a final shower to
remove all sweat from your body. Allow yourself
time to cool completely down before you use a large
towel to dry yourself and put on your clothes. |
Spend at least one half hour using the sauna and if you can
allow yourself an hour or more. Be sensible and aware of your
body all the time and you will find this a relaxing and
enjoyable experience.
If you have any health concerns about
using a sauna you should consult your doctor but saunas provide
many health benefits. They can dry your skin
so if you use one several times a week you may wish to use a
skin lotion after the sauna.
